The original Kensington school, now the KCGPA middle school, was built in 1915 and is included in the Kansas City landmarks commission survey of local historically significant public schools.

It will house 5th through 8th grades and will be connected to the new high school, creating a campus to serve 5th through 12th grades.

The new wing of KCGPA will include:

  • 44,854 sq ft, total

  • 10,932 sq ft, lower level

  • 21 classrooms

  • a common campus entry point

  • a new façade to complement the historic façade

  • 68 parking spaces within property (and additional 28 if expanded onto the playground)

  • additional adjacent street parking

  • new sidewalks and exercise equipment along Van Brunt Blvd
